Camp Invention: July 11th

Attention Fifth Grade Parents

Dear Fifth Grade Parents,

The Community House is presently accepting registrations for their Middle School Night program.  The purpose of Middle School Night is to offer participants, grades 6th through 8th, a place for safe and supervised social activity through regularly scheduled events, such as dances, movie nights, mini golf excursions, etc.  The Introductory Event, the Fifth Grade Dance, which many of our students are talking about, is scheduled for Friday, June 10th.  If your child is interested in attending, please assure them that it is not expected or encouraged that they go with a date, as many of them are thinking and talking about. In fact, this is highly discouraged.  The night is more of a social gathering than a dance, with dance games such as the limbo being featured.  They will not be playing any slow dance songs.  Some students are feeling pressured to go with a date and we hope that parents will support our recommendation and encourage them to go with their friends.

To be eligible to sign up, students must live in Hamilton or Wenham or attend Miles River Middle School as a school choice student.  A one time registration fee of $50.00 is required to participate in the Middle School Night Program and students must be registered ahead of time to participate.  If scholarship assistance is needed, please contact me at 978-626-0873. Registration forms and more information are available on the Community House website. This program is not sponsored or supported by the Hamilton Wenham School District, but it is something that is offered by the Community House.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Hughes, LICSW
Adjustment Counselor

A reminder from Mrs. Druskat, Buker School Nurse

With spring finally upon us, remember to check your children every day for ticks.  Our playground borders the woods, and at times children play in the perimeter of the woods.  Finding ticks before they are attached, or within the first 24 hours of attachment, prevents the spread of lyme disease.  For more information visit the CDC’s website at

Auction Thanks

On behalf of students and staff, I would like to thank our parent community for their commitment and generosity in all the work done to make this year's auction a great success.  Your support provides many enriching opportunities for our school.  An event like this does not happen without extensive planning and preparation.  I would like to thank Liza and Andrew Sharp, and Kasie VanFaasen, along with all the other parents who contributed to such a memorable event.
