We have all we need now to make this school-wide project a success!

Placement Input letter for Parents K-Gr4

Dear Parents,
We are beginning the very important process of class placement for next year.  The teachers and I will soon be meeting to build the classes. Our teachers have a very good understanding of your children, their learning styles, and social development.  We also value your perspective and input on the growth of your child.  I encourage you to respond to the questions on the form below.  I am confident that together we will place your child in the most appropriate environment for their learning success.

If you would like to share your thoughts about your child’s placement with us, please respond to the questions and return your input to the office by Friday, April 15, 2016.  However, please refrain from requesting a specific teacher by name, as this would not be in line with our process.

This letter was also sent by Aspen email, for your convenience.

Thank you,
Brian O’Donoghue

Cultural Enrichment

Friends of Buker sponsor many wonderful Cultural Enrichment programs throughout the school year, made possible through fundraising.  As we near the Auction, please know that the dollars raised from that event make possible so many interesting programs that enhance your children's education.

Here is feedback from a third grade teacher about a recent Drumlin Farm program:

"Today’s visit was wonderful! With our recent adoption of Next Generation Science Standards, we’re studying other creatures besides mammals and are also looking at fossils and adaptations.  It was perfect. Thank you for coordinating this fantastic program!"

Throughout the year our students have enjoyed:
Art Quest, Illustrator Giles LaRoche, Geodomes, Math Through Movement, Writer in Residence Jarrett Krosoczka, "A Christmas Carol", Hamilton School of Dance, Mainely Stars and numerous field trips to Plimoth, Russell Orchards, Harvard Museum, etc.

Special thanks to the parent coordinators Lauren Consolazio, Emily Leland and Cori Shea!

Parent Informational Meeting: Gr 4&5

Each year, as part of our Health Program, we present information on puberty for our 4th and 5th grade students.  We address the growth and development process, nutrition, personal hygiene, physical and emotional changes during puberty and the increased responsibilities that accompany these important changes.

On Monday, March 21st from 6:30 – 7:30pm there will be an information meeting for parents at the Buker School Multi-purpose Room, where you will have the opportunity to view the videos we use and ask questions.  I encourage you to join us to learn more about how we present this information to your children.  Permission slips have been sent home and it is necessary for these forms to be returned in order for the students to attend this program.  Parents who do not want their children to participate must indicate that on the form.

If you would like further information, please call Kathleen Hughes at 978-626-0873.

STEM Day Collection

Thank you for all the donations of cardboard for our upcoming STEM program.
We have enough cardboard now.

We still need tubes (paper towel, toilet tissue, mailing).

It is important to the project that these
do not get flattened in the transport to school.
Thank you for supporting this upcoming program!
