Information for Fifth Grade Parents

If you or your fifth grader are looking for more information about moving ahead to the Miles River Middle School, please look on their website and download the brochure, “ Making the Transition – 5th to 6th Grade“.  Jessica Clark, the Miles River Counselor, has put together a comprehensive brochure answering almost any question you might have.

The Community House is presently accepting registrations for their Middle School Night program.  The purpose of Middle School Night is to offer participants, grades 6th through 8th, a place of safe and supervised social activity through regularly scheduled events, such as dances, movie nights, mini golf excursions, etc.  The Introductory Event, the Fifth Grade Dance, which many of our students are talking about, is scheduled for Friday, June 6th.  If your child is interested in attending, please assure them that it is not expected that they go with a date, as many of them are thinking.  In fact, this is discouraged.  The night is more of a social gathering than a dance, with dance games such as the limbo being featured.  They will not be playing any slow dance songs.  Some students are feeling pressured to go with a date and we hope that parents will support our recommendation and encourage them to go with their friends.

To be eligible to sign up, students must live in Hamilton or Wenham or attend Miles River as school choice student.  Registration is $45.00 and students must be registered ahead of time to participate.  Please see Kathy Hughes for scholarship assistance if needed.  Registration forms are available on the Community House website. This program is not sponsored or supported by the Hamilton Wenham School District, but something that is offered by the Community House.

Afterschool Plans

Please make every effort to confirm your child's dismissal transportation plans prior to leaving for school in the morning.  Send in a note to the teacher if it deviates from the norm.  Calls to the office and subsequently to the classroom are disruptive.
